Summer Fire Prevention Tips
7/2/2020 (Permalink)
As summer fast approaches the Jersey Shore, we are consumed with thoughts of the 4th of July, barbecues, camping, vacation and all things hot weather. As the temperature rises, so does the risk for a fire to break out. Some things to remember while enjoying the hot weather:
1.Be sure to clean the grill
Grease is very flammable. Clean all the built-up grime after every use.
2. Fire pits or open fires- Make sure the fire is out!
When you’re done roasting the marshmallows make sure the fire is out and cooled down completely.
3. Have water or sand ready for backup!
Whether a bucket or a bottle, in situations where fire or embers are present a water or sand reserve to control a possible flare is an important precaution.
4. Always supervise fireworks and sparklers!
It’s all fun and games until the lawn catches on fire. Keep a close eye and a steady hand when setting these off.
