A Little Cloud of Smoke

The majority of our restoration calls are for Water Damage.  You would be surprised how often water damage occurs from a home appliance such as an ice maker or washing machine.  Oddly enough, the last few months, we have been responding to Fire Damage with some interesting causes.

One most recent soot cleanup was on kitchen cabinets caused by burning a candle.  Depending on what the wick is made of, as it burns and adds fragrance it also lets off tiny clouds of soot.  If you are burning the candle in the same spot frequently, those tiny clouds could adhere to surfaces.  Not just hard surfaces like walls and furniture but to fabrics as well.  Typically, these soot deposits can be cleaned and wiped away with soap and water by the homeowner.  But in some cases, the buildup or type of soot needs the professionals. That is where we come in!
